Dronfield 1st Place at

NEMBBA Contest

The Contesting Band travelled to the Whitworth Centre on 27th September 2026 to compete in the NEMBBA Entertainment Contest. As an organisation we use a lot of video media within our concerts and our MD, Ady Wood, wanted to incorporate this into our programme and we brought to the audience, 'Radio NEMBBA'.
Our featured soloist was our Principal Cornet, Emily Smith, who gave a beautiful rendition of 'Rusalka's Song to the Moon'.
We also played the hymn tune, 'Blaenwern', and the second verse was played by five of our ladies (from memory too!). The quintet was formed of Principal Cornet - Emily Smith, Flugel Horn - Charlotte Behan, Solo Horn - Joanne Wood, First Horn - Meg Hulme and Bass Trombone - Annabelle Davies.
The performance found favour with adjudicator, Leigh Baker, who awarded us first place in the third section. We also received the award for Most Entertaining Band across all sections, Championship through to Training Band.
