NEMBBA Contest

It was a successful weekend in the Midlands for Dronfield Band Organisation, which saw Daytime Brass' first contest performance earning a silver medal finish in the unregistered section on Saturday, followed by a DGB 1st place in the 3rd section on Sunday.

Under the baton of Roland Spencer, Daytime brass played a varied, and entertaining programme including excerpts from Eric Ball's, 'Journey into Freedom', and Euphonium solo, 'Blaydon Races', featuring the band's principal Euphonium player, Michael Brook.

Then came the turn of Dronfield Genquip Band, and after a bleary-eyed rehearsal at a somewhat anti-social time for a Sunday morning, they performed Christopher Bond's, test piece 'Corineus', the set work for the Yorkshire Regional Finals on 2nd March.

The performance found favour with adjudicator, Alan Morrison, who awarded first place, giving the band a boost as we continue our hard work and preparations for the Area contest in a couple of weeks, seeking a qualification place for the National Finals in September.
